John Scott Lewinski

As a writer, John Scott Lewinski hustles around the world, writing for more than 30 international magazines and news sites. He covers lifestyle, travel, cars, motorcycles, technology, golf, liquor, fashion and other related topics.


Along the way, he chased tornados across five states; drove an amateur stage of the Baja 500; lived like Neolithic man off the Orkneys; graduated from Space Camp; raced a Corvette Stingray to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game; pulled lobster pots in the Atlantic off the Isle of Scilly; won a Dabbawala race through Mumbai; flew a plane over Los Angeles; blended his own Scotch outside Glasgow; attended cowboy school in Montana; remotely piloted a $65 million lunar lander; competed in a rally race through Lithuania; controlled the Fountains at the Bellagio; blew his own glass in Colorado; drove the car that won the Dakar Rally through Death Valley; played in a cross-country golf tournament in France and served as keeper for a day at the London Zoo.


Lewinski covered the 2012 Summer Olympics in London for multiple outlets. He toured Cape Town and wrote a five article print spread on that country’s film industry. He visited Rome (to write an assassin’s history of The Eternal City); the Isle of Man to experience the TT; Las Vegas (to tackle the Consumer Electronics Show) and Daytona (for The 500 and Bike Week).


In 2013, he completed a world tour covering the travel and motoring story of Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary. Along the way, he visited celebratory rallies from New Zealand to Germany, South Africa to Italy. That coverage won the 2013 Excellence in Craft Award from the Texas Automotive Writers Association.

In 2012, he became a freelance automotive editor, traveling to vehicle rollouts for Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Lexus, Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Star and Ducati. He turned laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Road America, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NOLA Motorsports Park and Circuit of the Americas. He rode motorcycles from Miami to Key West, San Diego to Monterey and Bologna to Tuscany. Finally, he trained in rally racing with the Dirtfish School and track driving with the Skip Barber Racing School, Jaguar Performance Driving Academy and the Bondurant Racing School.


His book, Motorcycle 360: Around the World on Two Wheels, is available online via iBooks and Kindle. His previous book, Alone in a Room, is now available at bookstores and as an ebook. He also cowrote the inspiring 2009 non-fiction sports title, A Saint in the City from Tate Publishing.


Lewinski served as a guest lecturer at the University of Notre Dame and Marquette University. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Communication Arts from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a B.A. in Journalism from Marquette. He completed his study of English Literature at Exeter College, University of Oxford, UK.
